A variance decomposition of the Continuous Assessment of Interpersonal Dynamics.

The Continuous Assessment of Interpersonal Dynamics (CAID) is an observational coding method that enables continuous tracking warmth and dominance in both members a dyad as interaction unfolds. Research using this tool has revealed dynamic patterns relevant to psychopathology psychotherapy, suggesting considerable potential for clinical assessment research. However, CAID data are sensitive variety person situational factors, the way these factors combine influence poorly understood. We examined from 10 raters assess moment-to-moment opposite-sex married dyads (N = 137 couples) interacting four distinct situations. Using Generalizability Theory methods, we decomposed sources variance estimated multiple forms between- within-person reliability.
